Can you locate a bad DNS record on another server (not your own)?

We've recently been getting reports of emails being "bounced" back to the senders. When I get the send to forward the bounces to me (via another account), they are all bouncing because they are trying to relay over an old server that is no longer our email server. We have not been on the "bad" server for several months now but the bounces just started occurring.

If I use the various DNSstuff tools, I'm not seeing anything but our current servers. Everything looks right. But somewhere out there in the "wild, wild net", email is finding a DNS resolution that leads it down the wrong path. Is there any way for me to detect where the bad information is coming from? Or do I have to push this back to the sender's tech support team to run traces on the email's route?

Sorry if I'm not using the most proper terminology but hopefully I'm communicating my situation clearly enough that someone can help me out.

TIA,

pdccnet
